The Strategic road network is designed and maintained by governments in order to move people and freight around the country efficiently and safely.
Strategic roads in England are managed by the Highways Agency on behalf of the Department for Transport. Further details of the HA network can be found on their website.
Strategic roads in England are represented in MAST using two special dimensions:
Strategic roads in Scotland and Wales are not yet represented in MAST, but can be identified by their road number.
