In STATS19, a roundabout refers to the whole of a circular highway and sections of the roads leading into it within 20 metres. The term also applies to sections of large gyratory systems which are within 20 metres of entrance or exit points.

A 'mini-roundabout' is defined as a roundabout which has a flush or slightly raised circular marking less than 4 metres in diameter.
