In STATS19, a junction is any place where two or more roads of any type meet, except where one road crosses the other by a bridge or flyover.

The meeting point of a public highway and a private drive or entrance is only considered as a junction if the private drive was in use at time a crash occurred.

A gap in the central reservation of a the dual carriageway is not considered a junction, unless other roads join at that point.

Crashes occurring at junctions can be analysed in MAST using the Junction Detail dimension.
